The Belgrade Arena is the most modern structure in Belgrade where sports, cultural, music and other events and fairs are hold. It was inaugurated in 2004 with the Diamond Ball Basketball Tournament.
The Arena covers an area of 48,000 m2 on six levels and can seat between 18,000 and 25,000 visitors, depending on the lay-out of the stalls.
The first important sporting event that was to be hold in the Arena was the 1994 World Basketball Championship, but Belgrade was denied the organization of the event due to the war operations in the former Yugoslavia.
A similar situation repeated in 1999 when Belgrade Arena was to welcome the world’s best table-tennis players.
International sports competitions including the 2005 European Men’s Basketball Championship, the 2012 European Women’s and Man’s Handball Championships, 2013 World Women’s Handball Championship and 2016 Man’s World Futsal Championship, were nevertheless held in this hall.
Basketball clubs Partizan Belgrade and Red Star Belgrade was played some of very important matches in Euroleague in this hall.
